I have been in complete awe watching the fall colors in full bloom! There are still many trees still to change. Fall seems to be extended. Thanks to bouts of warm weather in between the chilly days, I guess. Today it's a balmy 65F (18C)!! Took a nice walk/jog through the trail in the woods this morning instead of the boring gym! How refreshing!
I kept telling N how the colors this year seem the most vibrant (in the last 6 years I have been here). But then I realized, the last two years, I have missed fall.
We have a beautiful view of the forest from our window. D has truly enjoyed it too! This is her first fall colors. Well, technically second but she was 5 months then!! ;)
Just like me, she enjoys walking and hearing the crunch over the dry leaves. This morning she showered herself with a pile of leaves as we were walking to school! Alas, it was wet from a little rain we got overnight. Usually that would have led to an all-out meltdown over the ickiness but she was happy! Just happy!

too much politics... in politics
Nov. 7th, 2008 09:20 amSo, post-election reports are coming as to why the Republicans lost and what they need to do for a come around. Before the ideas flow in, the blame game of course ensues first. And where are all the fingers pointing to? Poor old, Sarah Palin. If you think she is safely tucked back in Alaska think again. It's amazing how she has turned from the messiah to the party to the scapegoat of the party. I don't think she was a great pick, I think it did affect McCain's support. I couldn't see how they could work together when they differed so much on ideas. But to put so much blame on her?! wow. Really. Some are even thinking of her to run in the next elections. If I were her I would jump to the Democratic party. Why not, politics is all about flip-flopping anyway. McCain did it throughout his campaign. Oh the drama that is politics. Instead of daytime soaps, they should just play the behind-the-scene talks.
Anyhow, the leaves have gotten an even more colourful tone today. Of course, the sun is out and that helps a lot. But what a difference 4 days makes!

Nov. 4th, 2008 10:20 amThe excitement is high. You can clearly see which campaign has more money with so many volunteers out at metro stations, reminding you to vote up front in your face! We even got a nice glossy brochure provided by the party last night from the "richer" campaign. I can't vote, but I wanted to give my time at one of the polls. So I went. That particular place had enough volunteers, being at a University Campus. At least I got to see the University rowing team practicing outdoors, t-shirt less, on rowing machines! :P
So, no mention about result polls, etc. But a beautiful view from my window. Somehow I feel the fall colours are much brighter this year. Or I just missed looking out last year! hmmm...

Wintry days are ahead...
Oct. 27th, 2008 10:50 amYesterday was a beautiful day! Relatively warm, with temperature in 60s F (18C) compared to 50s (10-12C) the day before. It might not seem like a huge change, but I was out without a sweater and sandals yesterday!
This morning we awoke to a beautiful view out the window. The lone tree that started changing has already shed its leaves. But other trees have begun to catch up. It's a beautiful distraction from the cold that is coming ahead of us in the next few months.
I realised some thing these last few months. That we can open up the screen mesh we have on the window to take a clearer photo. This morning I remembered why I didn't do that all last season, when that cold burst of wind hit me while I took the above pic. Enjoy the changes from last season.
