There's so much to catch up on. Everyone asks, "so have you taken your mom around the city and shown her places?" I respond with "not yet." Reality is that she is not that interested. After 20 years abroad and traveling about, the travel-sightseeing bug has completely gone out of her. She said, when N is back, he can go on a city tour by car and that would be enough.
So, what do we do on weekends especially, many ask. We talk. And we talk. We talk about life, of family, relive past memories, thoughts. And we can go on for hours. Our stomachs remind us that it's time to eat. But really we can talk. When I first left home for college mom went mad. Dad hardly talks. Sis talks but not so much (at least at that time). And mom had no one to talk to. I remember she would call me over the silliest things. Our phone bills ran high. This was before the cheaper rates came to call overseas on either side of the oceans. She then began to learn the whole concept of emailing.
But that was never the same. Even later as phone rates got cheaper, we would talk on the phone but then it was never the same as talking in person. So, it's wonderful to have mom here. We also do argue and fight... but that's in our job description of being a mom and being a daughter! We just do our jobs very well! ;)
