After a late start in the morning we headed out to see some sights in Key West. We went up the lighthouse. We saw the Ernest Hemingway's house - from the outside.

We watched an old WWII ship being sunk far off into the ocean that will create an artificial reef. How quickly a ship blown with holes sinks!! It went down within a few minutes!!
The view from above.

There were different ways to see Key West, there was a train that gave a guided tour, a trolley, mopeds, bicycles, electric cars and best of all, your feet!

And the spiral staircase scared me!! eeks... going up was not bad. It was going down that was scary! It's one set of stairs to go up and down! So half way down another group of 5 people were going up. The smile is rather deceptive! :P

Along the way we saw a bunch of murals...and of course we had to pose along!

And a Wyland building mural... It was so nice to see Wyland piece after so many years!! I recognized it from the first sight!!

We went to the cemetery. Apparently they had some humorous stones. But then I hadn't noted them down and so we soon left the place. The interesting part was the graves were above ground because of the low water table, like I saw in New Orleans. We then found this organic place to have lunch. It was delicious and reasonably prices - for Key West standard!
We got back to the room to take a quick break from the sun! It was such a hot day! Then we took a drive the Atlantic Blvd... where there's Smarther's beach! We didn't stop though as we were going to be swimming about in the ocean later on. So, we just drove. We passed the airport and then there was this lone fort sitting in the middle of nowhere. It was on the map as a place of interest. It was the Fort East Martello Museum & Gardens. It was the coolest place we saw on the islands. We had though to rush through the exhibits as we had booked a snorkeling cruise and the clock was ticking. We wish we had more time to see the exhibits at leisure.
We saw Robert the doll (Chucky from the movie is said to be based on this doll). Made sure we asked his permission to allow us to take pics. The exhibits surrounded with letters people wrote about all the bad things that happened to them after mocking him, etc.

Some of the cool amusing exhibits: Las Vegas Model

Alligator

And there were so many more things to see! A place one must definitely go!
We then walked on over to the pier where our boat was anchored at to take the snorkeling and sunset tour. Had a fabulous time! We bought an underwater disposable camera and so waiting for the film to get developed, etc. On the boat we met some very nice people. One couple we spoke with for long time were from Tennessee. We had also free flow of soft drinks and hard drinks! Hubby had a bit too much and that kind of cut our night short. I think it was a mixture of too much sun, and a mix of all sorts of alcohol that got to him. And a first time for him. It was amusing and annoying all at the same time.
