And then we hit the road on a 150 mile road trip to Key West, Florida!

On the way we stopped at a few fishing piers. Didn't see much action though... but some big fish made of plastic!

And a shark that wanted to scuba dive!

And a bunch of colourful crabs.

Some Chum on sale... have no clue what that is!

And we finally caught sight of beautiful aqua green waters.... It was a hot day and perfect day to just jump in!

The bikers ahead of us didn't though seem in much of a hurry.... we were stuck behind them for some time....

And we finally reached the southernmost point of continental USA! Decided a swim over to Cuba to be postponed to another day!

And where we saw the Southernmost hotel... Southernmost Guest House..... And finally the southernmost southernmost house in the USA

We had lunch at a Banana Cafe. We got there just as their kitchen was closing. But it was a yummy place to eat! We only later on found out that they are known for their crepes. Ah well. Next trip!
The day was beautiful and we decided to head straight to the beach...and we went to the beach at Fort Zachary State Park... It took us some time to walk there...we had to walk through the naval residence area and then a bit of a walk from the entrance to the beach. But it was oh so worth it! We didn't care that the park had some historic fort site, etc. We wanted the beach on a beautiful day... a first for us in our trip! We forgot to capture a pic of it too!
The motel was in a great location and yet the service sucked. When we got there at 2:30pm the office was closed saying the staff would be right back and he/she never came back. When we returned at 4:45pm the office was "closed"!! N banged on the door and lucky for us there was someone sitting inside who helped us out and gave us the room key! So that had delayed our time on the beach a bit too! But luckily it's summer and sun sets much later! yay!
Evening we walked down Duval street had a drink or two and came back to the motel and heated up some Curry food packets we had picked up at Trader Joe's and some bread we picked up from a Cuban supermarket and enjoyed it in the motel's garden. I have to say their kitchen was so very well maintained. We could have a cookout for 20 people easily!! They had two stoves, a good fridge, pots and pans and all other things you would need for cooking. We just needed a microwave! Restaurants were much more expensive in Key West and we didn't have much of options for us to eat, except to go back to Banana Cafe or have a pizza. ah well. The beauty and charm of the place made up for it!
