baby sleeps...

So today, D & I met up with our friends Lori & 3 year old daughter S at the spray park. Lori has a month old boy. awwwwww... omg!! No, it doesn't make me rethink not having a second one. Over that. But it's always such a wonderful moment seeing a newborn. Such bliss. So, held on to him for some time so mom could have lunch and other things. He of course, started crying for mommy-boobs. He was crying because his sleep was disturbed, you know usual baby stuff.

And all I had to hold him over my shoulder, sway a teeny bit and he fell asleep! He actually fell asleep!! And stayed asleep for at least half an hour and continued to sleep after transferring back to mom! Like what they say babies are supposed to do as a newborn!!! I couldn't believe it! I wanted to bring him home! lol... well, no. I can't do changing diapers - well, I can. But you know, if given a choice, not again.

And no, D never did what babies are supposed to do. She never fell asleep just like that. sigh.

T & S never slept like that either. Just luck of the draw for us, I guess. *sighs* It's not for the lack of proper technique or whatever... I've babysat plenty of babies and they were all like the month-old baby you cuddled to sleep!

I know what you mean. Earlier this month I got to meet the 12 week old baby of a friend, did the requisite cooing and cuddling and snuggling, and it was positively delightful, and, no, I don't want another one, thank you. The longer we get away from the babyhood stage, the more convinced I am that we made the right decision (even in the face of walking to nursery with Gwen yesterday with her cataloging all the younger siblings of her friends in her room, and concluding with "I want a baby sister, someday. Someday, mommy." Oh child, if only it were that easy.)

That would tug at my heart, too! But for whatever reason D doesn't ask about wanting a sibling. Maybe she doesn't think she can ask? I don't know, but she does take in all the friends' younger siblings as her own. It's amusing for us to watch and probably annoying to her friends that their siblings love D as she gives them her time and patience way more than their own siblings! ^_^

Man, they're just so pleasantly heavy and small on your shoulder when they fall asleep like that! The baby doesn't so much anymore. She used to fall asleep anywhere, but *sniff* she's past that stage now.

I forget how heavy little ones get!! My biceps are feeling a tad bit sore the next day! ha! I remember having strong arms until D turned 2. They are a workout in itself!

And not to worry... they change their "routines" so quickly! :)
