RK Laxman... RIP
Jan. 26th, 2015 09:36 amI remember when I was 8 years old. Parents were Times of India subscribers. Back in the day where this was the paper we all read to improve our English. And on the front page in the little corner was a cartoon. And the only thing I looked at and read, RK Laxman's cartoon looking at the world through the common man's perspective. At 8, I didn't understand the depth of his humor, but somehow it was something I so look forwarded to. It was one of the things I did miss leaving India as those were the days before the internet came and you only got print edition. Some one among the 200 Indian families in Rome at the time would bring a collection and oh so carefully that one copy would make its rounds. He was obviously very much loved.
May his soul rest in peace.
