Depends on how long you want your furniture to last! A crib's not meant to be used for many years unless you want to pass it on as a family heirloom.
As for beds for adults... unless you move around a lot and ditch your old furniture all the time, you probably want to invest in a good-quality, non-IKEA one since you spend ~1/3 of your life on one :-)
