Horrible thing to happen in CT. School shooting. Horrible horrible horrible. The weapons the teacher thought will protect her killed her and so many other innocent souls. Gun supporters will of course pile in that if she were allowed to carry her weapons it might have had a different ending. But still even gun facing a gun will have deaths of innocents. So, I don't buy that argument.

India is going through its own scandal. Horrible. Disgusting beyond comprehension and completely shameful. A couple were assaulted on a bus, the woman was gangraped and both were left to die on the side of the road. Someone picked them up and are now in the hospital. I did not read the details of the story. I just couldn't. The rapists have been caught...only because there has been such great media coverage. I will not link any stories because the details are just horrible. It's every parents' worst nightmare coming to life.

This is not the first time. Our Incredible India's capital, New Delhi, is known for excessive eve teasing and rapists' actions going unaccountable. People, especially women, are strongly encouraged to not go anywhere past 7pm. You have to constantly put up with vulgar teasing and vulgar behaviour.

My sis had gotten a job offer in Delhi. My dad has never put limits on our dreams or aspirations because we are girls. For the first time in his/our life he told sis not to take up the job in Delhi. Same advice she got from pretty much everyone.

What a shame!!! What a shame!!!! It is time to bury, "boys will be boys!" & "girls should cover up and not tempt boys!" attitude! It's obviously not working!

I agree with you 100%. We need to stop talking in terms of "girls should stop dressing like sluts so they dont get raped" and start saying "well, boys should not rape"

I'm reassured to read about the rape protests in India (though some were violent and resulted in deaths? :-\ ) -- it's a promising start when people recognize and speak out about injustices.
