competitive advantage
Jun. 30th, 2010 10:45 amWhen my parents moved back to Bangalore, all four of us spent a lot of time getting things (such as electricity, phone, other utilities, house repair-work) arranged while planning my wedding in two and half months. We made frequent visits to the phone company people as something was going wrong with the unit. It's a BigPhoneCompanyA. We witnessed numerous customers displeasure at their service to even one customer throwing his helmet at the customer representative.
Apparently things have changed since then. The telecommunications industry in India has gotten so competitive that the phone companies are calling their customers when they see a change in call-behaviour to ask if there's anything wrong with the service. With one complaint to BigPhoneCompanyA they immediately send a technician to the house (back then they wouldn't make a trip to our place, saying it's too far away and we had to go)!
Yesterday my sis got the funniest phone call from BigPhoneCompanyA. They were concerned that the calls from the phone we have at home had a drastic change in calls being made/received and they were inquiring if something was wrong or how they could improve their service. My sis trying not to laugh too much, explained it was because mom is out of the country! ;)
(In my nuclear family, mom and I are the big talkers. Dad hardly talks and sis doesn't live at home.)
