Actually, a full fridge uses less energy than an empty fridge. Once it's cold, your can of Coke stays cold much more easily than the air that has now taken its place. And every time you open the fridge door, the air moves around, which makes things even worse.
But putting the can back in the cupboard would have been more wasteful. Now at least you got a nice drink ;)
