Everglades NP - Day 3 continued

December 27th ...continued...

Here the river emptied into the sea and so the habitat was also very different. Mangroves grew everywhere!

The birds were busy feeding!

A lone mangrove.. that one day will grow into a bigger island! The birds like the new hangout spot!

At first the dolphins were a bit shy! Well, okay - they were hungry and they were eating away! So, for quite some time we just saw their fins peaking above.

But they love putting on a show. Like the captain said, this is one place where they don't need to feed the dolphins at the end of the ride! ;)

The pelicans were a bit away on a sandbar and were watching the show!

One dolphin seemed to follow us home!

It's amazing out of all the wildlife we saw, the dolphin never seizes to transfix our gaze in complete amusement and joy!

We got back in time for sunset. We drove back and ended the evening with some packed dinner and a few rounds of scrabble. I think it was this opportune moment when hubby and I decided we pick a fight and pick a fight over something stupid we did! MIL had great entertainment! Although she probably could do without this genre of entertainment!
