listening to music

I have been taking my Sony MP3 player with me to work and wherever else I go on my own. I find myself singing along, tapping my feet, nodding my head to the music, following the beat with my fingers. And sometimes I catch myself almost dancing away to it. We occasionally do find some random youngsters in a full out dance to the music he is listening to (and it always has been a guy)! But that's like once in six months.

I watch others on the train. Nearly 80% of them have some sort of headphones stuck in their ears and I wonder if they are listening to some music that they absolutely don't like or something. I don't know. Music moves me. It takes me into a different world. Maybe they are listening to the same songs again and again but they look completely bored out of their minds and some even look angry.

I imagine some might be listening to some audio books. Some clearly would be watching a show. But what happened to the enjoyment in music? Has the DC Metro passed a rule that one cannot smile anymore or something? hmmm.... I thought I would see at least a handful of expressive people.

And the song, "Dancing in the streets" is playing in my head now and I just can't stop tapping my feet away to it!

I personally burst into song at the slightest provocation...
