Oh it was such fun adventure yesterday! It all started Wednesday night! I was clearing the sink of dishes - either to dishwasher and washing the pots and pans. As I was in the act of loading the dishwasher, I saw that the coffee filter lid (of the steel coffee filter) was on the move. I thought I had a few extra seconds. But nope it slid into the sink drain and got comfortable. It fit perfectly, the grooves matched the grooves of the drain. It was happy. We were not. I used a butter knife. But the water that was trying to drain helped it only get better settled.

Following morning, I tried:

  • hot water - to realise that would only expand it, right?! So, it didn't work.

  • wanted to try ice - alas our ice box was empty

  • Put some oil in the sides - didn't work.

  • Tried the plunger - but that only made it worse?

  • Got the vacuum cleaner out, didn't work.

So, I took the problem to my family circle for entertainment and posted on FB for help and got:

  • Use an ax - we umm didn't have an ax (camping ax neither) at home. We did try a drill to drill a hole but then realised, right not a mason jar top a SOLID stainless steel. And of course, the drill ran out of battery

  • Inform management and let them deal with it - perks of renting, their equipment they handle it so we don't damage it in our experiments. Well, some strange reason none of them showed up!

  • magnet - we didn't have a strong enough magnet at home.

  • Super Glue multiple twines/wires to the inner lid surface and yank them all together - very creative and would love to give it a try but we didn't know where we hid the super glue safely from our 6 year old!

  • Unscrew the pipe and push it out - we didn't want to do that and figured that's what the management/maintenance staff would have to do.

  • Use Jedi powers - well. yes. of course.

  • Apple cider - all I had was apple cider vinegar

Problem solved

So, guess which one did the trick?

But there it is. It felt good and we had such fun! A little relief from the work piled up!

22 days...

So, it's been 22 days since I removed facebook from my smartphone. It's been great! I check facebook from my computer and has come down to twice a day max. Somedays, none. It's been nice. My smartphone has also become a camera and an audio device to listen to NPR radio.

Now, I am smartphone free - hubby took it for his trip, so he can use WhatsApp with his friend. So, no camera. The urge of fulfiling capturing every moment of D will be curbed. Although I have to say, I no longer take as many pictures of her anymore.

So, now am with my old Samsung B2100. It's years old and we can't figure out how to get the pics from it to our computer! :S SInce we got it unlocked from Amazon.com we didn't get the cord and never really bothered because, well the camera isn't exactly its strength. oh well.

So, disconnected in another way! So am curious, I know there are a few who don't have a smartphone and are surviving! ;) Do the rest have a data plan too?

It's been ten days since I deleted FB on my smartphone. I wondered how I would do. And I don't miss it one bit. I log in twice a day and scroll through. And that's that. Life is going on fine without it! Who would have thought!? ;)

But it's also been ten days since I last exercised. Ok, 6 days. And that's not good. The weather was an excuse. And I needed the little time to catch up on work piled up from the holiday! Now that is all past us, the sun is shining and it's forecasted to be a balmy 40F (who would have thought I would think 40F is balmy!!!?! ha!), it's back to the exercise world!

The other day I deleted several people on Facebook. It was a wonderful avenue to run into old friends from yesteryears. I have caught up with quite a few of them! Even planning to meet one of them who lives around here sometime in April (ok, that's the only time our scheduled gelled!!). And then there are those who don't even pop-in to say hello! I mean did they add me back just to add one more person on their list and don't even remember me? I have been patient and gave them like 6 months to say hello back. Afterall not everyone checks in every day or every other day! but ah well... I have like 150 people on my list and I think I interact with maybe twenty of them!! so that was that... the funny thing was quite a few of them added me back again. hrmphh...
